Easy to use, easy to edit

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: I have been impressed by their helpful staff from our initial contact, and the system is largely intuitive

Pros:

That it is easy to create records and edit them That the catalogue is web-based, which means I can use it in whichever of the 3 archive stores I am working That our data is held securely

Cons:

Occasionally the website can be slow, but that could be a local bandwidth issue

Great Digital Repository for Small University

5.0 10 months ago

Comments: Great experience. Would purchase again. Suits our needs.

Pros:

I appreciate the customizations that Soutron offers compared to its competitors. I was able to customize our portal layout, the way our records were displayed, and received training and assistance on how to set up templates for cataloging. I had a lot of assistance learning how to use the system, which I appreciated.

Cons:

The downside to having a lot of customizations and options is that it can be difficult to learn how to do everything possible with the system. I get a lot of help setting up portal layouts, but there is a learning curve in figuring it out.

Unifying Archives and Library. With Excellent Team Support.

5.0 11 months ago

Comments: We have worked with Soutron over a number of year now and it has been the perfect partnership for us.

Pros:

Having both the library and the archives managed within the same system is invaluable as a small team. Equally it gives a better user experience to researchers. We have benefited greatly from the system innovations that Soutron have continued to develop. While the support from the Soutron team has always been first class, offering solutions in alignment with our needs, budget and pace of work.

Cons:

The flexibility to make some digital items online read only would be on my wish list.

Lovely organisation to work with

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: Overall really glad we chose to work with Soutron.

Pros:

Really friendly helpful knowledgeable team who are a pleasure to work with

Cons:

We had some teething trouble which I think was as much to do with our incompetence as anything with Soutron, it was new software and we were learning as we went.

Top Choice for an Archive

5.0 10 months ago

Comments: I would recommend them without any hesitation.

Pros:

We had to rebuild our archival website, since the software that supported it would soon be outdated. Unfortunately, we did not have the source files for our original site and the individuals who built it were no longer with our company. Thus, this was a difficult job. Soutron was patient and professional throughout the process.

Cons:

They offered many features that while suitable for a large archive, were not useful for a small institution.

Pros:

Userfriendly, Smart Budget, agility of the company, User support, easy migration, adaptability of the software

Cons:

Lack of visibility regarding the integration with Social media or wiki's for those wishing to innovate

Happy to share that Soutron does now offer integration with all the usual social media sites. A great way to help promote those with public facing collections. We have a whole page on our site dedicated to further integrations too. See www.soutron.com/integrations for details.
